Let me address some of the concerns brought up in the comments:
1. The blog post that "revealed" the authors of MBP was a fake. It was written for fun by someone totally unrelated to the blog.
2. Lots of guesses regarding Sanders and whether MBP served in Dublin as claimed. My opinion is that they began the blog with certain details, one of which was serving in Ireland. The question is, did MBP have enough foresight to change details from the get-go? If so, then we have to assume they expected their blog to explode in popularity. If we assume THAT, then don't we have to second guess their motives? Which leads to #3.
3. Monteirth Madness was kind enough to email some public records regarding MBP's "LLC" that they set up. The reason they created the blog was "Writing an entertaining blog that will generate enough hits to entice companies to advertise on the blog." So, if this was their plan from the beginning, then isn't it possible this has been money-making scheme from the beginning and they're just making everything up on the blog strictly to entertain? I don't think that's very far-fetched.
4. Busy Bee Lauren doesn't write MBP. From what I understand, she allowed MBP access to her blog so they could moderate her comments for her cause people were being rude to her and she was tired of reading the mean comments.
Moving on. Let's assume just for fun, that C and J didn't realize there blog was going to get so popular... so some of the earlier posts could possibly be truer than the more recent ones. I've been reading MBP for a really long time... like maybe since August. So I was reading before they got super popular and I don't remember ever noticing any huge contradictions between their early posts and their later ones.
Anyone else notice anything that I'm missing?
Finally, I have a few things in the works for getting some photos of Calvin and Jake. I'm not sure if anything will pan out, but everyone cross their fingers that I'm successful.

Thought on motives.
ReplyDeleteI looked up the business, Mormon Bachelor Pad, LLC. The business was registered on Novemeber 5, 2009. The blog went online on July 1st, 2009.
I think it should be OBVIOUS that they started the blog. Then 5 months later, after it blew up in popularity. They got an attorney to start up a business for them.
Since the business is registered by their attorney and in their attorneys name, he probably filled out the paperwork. I would guess that C and J didn't even know what their business purpose was, before reading it on here.
Also, I don't find it odd at all that the business is in the attorneys name. He no doubt has a separate non-disclosure agreement with the MBP boys similar to the type authors who write under pen names have with their publishers.

ReplyDeleteI have taken special note of when Calvin or Jake are commenting on my blog and have carefully cross-referenced this with my site meter. After a few months and about two notebook pages, I have narrowed down a couple of IP addresses which have given me the following information. I submit this to the group for further review.
I will not post the IP's just yet as I am not certain and do not want to falsely accuse anyone. I'm naive enough to believe that hackers and spamers and such can use IP's for nefarious purposes. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I have narrowed it down to two seperate IP's - one which comes along with "-j" comments, and others which are calvin.
The first, I think is Jake. The IP is hosted by Comcast Cable. The IP address I determined is from an office condo complex on the second floor of a building off of Commerce Drive in Murry. However, it gives a lat/long of 40.3337 - 111.5617 which is a shop off of Redwood road and 10500 south in West Jordan.
The second, which coincides more with Calvins comments. It's hosted by STATE OF UTAH. The IP address is from the State Building in Salt Lake City. However, the longitude I got was 41.1149 - 111.5632 which is located on the Weber State University campus.
Jake's info could support any number of scenarios. But Calvin's seems a little easier to pin down. Through some intensive research and discussing this with my "computer savvy" friend. Calvin's IP actually goes to the 6th floor of the state building. Which as far as we can tell is a floor full of computer servers. Many large schools, including Weber State University run their computer systems through the State. So with the longitude and the IP info, I think it wouldn't be too far a stretch to say that Calvin attends Weber State University.
Thoughts anyone? There's got to be are people out there smarter than I. Since Jake's computer is hosted by Comcast that could ping all over the state. So maybe the boys live in Odgen and not Salt Lake City.

It is the Attorney who represents these guys blog. It seems like his wife writes most of the posts. The writing styles are different enough that I don't think the the Attorney writes the blog, but I think that it could give us some clues as to who these guys are.

ReplyDeleteIf they just bought a house, property records are public. If you are serious about finding them, search the property sales records for areas you think they are living in. Somewhere near the ZIP code where the PO box would be smart. If there is suspicion they are in Ogden, add that. Find places that sold on or about March 5 (the date cited in MBP for the purchase). Narrow the field by eliminating any records that do not list two male owners or LLCs as purchasers.

thats from theirs stats at the end of the year. One of the people who knows who they are is probably BBL, so id counter reference anyone you thought might be the author with her facebook, as im sure shed have them as a friend. Also, might want to try Shelby Lou as well...
In response to the housing, you have to know the name, or the address of the house to do a search, or at least the sales number
ReplyDeleteI don't know about how Utah's sales records work, but in my state, you can search on all kinds of things - to include sales date. If the state records aren't available, look into real estate companies. Someone is bound to have a useful tool that will give all houses in an area sold on a certain date. Either that or someone is bound to know a real estate agent that can run the queries desired.

The button that says "Access Principle Information" should link to the owners of the business. The registered agent is the lawyer, but the principles should be the actual owners of the business, no?

stated in their supplementals, and since they have their high schools and the dates they were on their missions, I think these are pretty accurate...
Connell is a football player at BYU, and in order to be a college athlete you must be enrolled full time, while Calvin states that he is part time, and Jake isnt even in school anymore. Plus, Connell is brown eyed, so id rule him out.
oh and his birthday was sometime between the 3rd and 7th. Calvin's is in January, and he mentions this in a post as does Jake..

Everything that Calvin and Jake say on there blog is probably not true. Or maybe I am alone in thinking this, but put yourself in their shoes for a moment.
You Are concealing your identity, but want to write true stories about your lives without the people in your life knowing that you are writing stories about them.
So, you would change names. What else would you change? If it were me I would change things that would not alter the "truth" but change what my outward appearance was.
Consider Jake's story about Andrea. Things that would not alter the truth of that story are his eye color, hair color, what mission he went to, what his name is, what her name is, where he lives, where she lives, where he went to high school.
If I were Calvin and Jake, I would change every one of those things. They are all outward and identifying traits.
I think... and I may be wrong, that you cannot disqualify any suspect based off of the information that they are freely giving us.
Consider as you search that they may not have known they were going to be this successful, but they did know they were going to be writing personal stories about the people closest to them in their lives. I think its safe to say that they would try to change as many things that their very roommates would be able to identify them with.
Jake is probably named John served his mission in Australia has his birthday in July, went to high school in Logan plays baseball instead of soccer.
Calvin is probably tall with dark curly hair grew up in Sandy, blah blah blah.
I think we are all just being a little to narrow minded is all.
I read the entire blog and I remember reading that Andrea's name is really Amanda, and Jake begs people that may know her not to say anything. Someone out there knows her or know these guys and it is only a matter of time before we figure this out.
ReplyDeleteI really doubt that BBL is one of the people that know who they are. I am guessing it is people like a sister or brother, an old girlfriend - someone they know in real life. I bet Sanders knows it is them. Remember Calvin said that he was really worried about the people that knew they write MBP, but Jake didn't seem to be as worried. Jake's Mom knows, probably their attorney and I bet Jake spilled the beans to others.
Megan - if you have access to a blog that they comment on, try using statcounter instead of sitemeter. Statcounter will keep track of the IP address every time they visit a blog so you don't have to do all of that work.
Blazzer - you are right, they do change things in the story to throw us off, they have even admitted that. If a comment was deleted with the name connell hess, that is some of the best evidence so far in my opininion.
I'm kinda creeped out by the fact that there might be some of you examining my facebook friends. That gives me the heebie jeebies.
ReplyDeleteIt would make sense for Calvin to go to Weber since he went to Layton high. He knows one of my friends older sisters, and actually graduated with her. He could easily be discovered by asking her sister to find out who she graduated with that wend on a mission to Dublin.

Oh and another reason it would make sense if they lived in ogden is when Jake was sighted at that Carls junior. Wasnt it in odgen or something?
